A Year In Pictures

A pictorial review of 2011, our rookie year.

April

'And this button arms the laser' - Ray from Manchester (boo, boo) does our walk through

May

Open for candy floss and hot dogs. A very rainy night in Brantford

June

Emma communes with the Airstream at Inverhuron. Very spiritual.

July

We don't just throw these things together, you know. We bought the trailer to match the kettle.

August

Lurking in the trees at Grayton Beach FL, hiding from the 'gators.

September

I thought the Airstream was big until we tried the KOA at London, Ontario,

October

Answers on a postcard, please. Last trip of the year at Rondeau.

Aluminium Blues

Lawd luv a duck. How can you miss an inanimate object like an Airstream? It's only a pile of metal and wood for goodness sake. But miss it I do (cue the violins and the sobbing).

We did at least get to go and visit Zlee in her Bambi, parked as it was, in the compound of Can-Am RV up in London. Zlee, having travelled across the continent from Denver, had chosen this year's only snowy weekend for her first open house, or rather Open Trailer, event. We sat in the very cosy confines of the Bambino, munching cake and watching the snow gather outside. I'm sure Zlee was building up the worries with the impending continental return trip, avec Airstream, but we were loving the pastries, the company and the Airstream ambiance (not necessarily in that order). Still, she made it away and across the border later that week and is now happily ensconced in Denver, or thereabouts with J. Love your Bambino, Zlee, but we are so hankering for Towed Haul.

Emma, Zlee, empty plates and snow, all in the comfort of the Bambino

So without our Aluminium distraction, I'm still hunkered down and poring over the Air Forum, waiting to pounce on the tow vehicle bigots and singing the praises of He Who Must Be Named (When Talking About Hitches) at every opportunity; you'd think I'd get out more, wouldn't you?

Still, at least I can get on with the planning, even if we are going to England during the camping season. I'm not sure how much Air Transat would rush me to get the Airstream over to the UK but I doubt it would be reasonable, so it'll be a hire car and a little Sprite Caravan, I think.

Or maybe not. Mind you, £269 sounds quite good, even if this is the 1958 model, and it looks pretty sexy, too!

No, I guess camping will be limited to this side of The Pond and it looks like the Thousand Islands region of Ontario will get the honour of hosting us this year. Look out KOA, here we come!

Don't worry, dear readers, ramblings will return to topic just as soon as Towed Haul is back on the Driveway in April.
